Kalinga Ng Ama: Shelter for Children (KNA) is a Security Exchange Commission
registered and Department of Social Welfare
Development licensed and accredited non-government
organization located in Dagupan City, Pangasinan
Philippines. KNA has been serving children since 1998. The first few years
were spent on coordinating and facilitating outreach missions
to the local street kids. However, it was then realized that regular visits, which included on the street Bible studies
and feeding programs had little impact on the lives of these children
who struggled for survival and morality in the streets. Although
these children attended the services, they still were turning to drugs,
theft, prostitution and violence for their daily living.
Therefore beginning in 2003, Kalinga Ng Ama: Shelter for Children
was opened to serve the children on a residential basis giving them
a chance to change past habits and make a new life with Christ. KNA
has reached over 200 youth since opening its doors and is currently
home to 35+ children residing at two separate shelters. KNA’s
dedication to serving children is displayed in it’s all volunteer
staff. This organization is able to continue it’s activities by
a vibrant collection of volunteer teachers, social workers, house
parents and workers.
Vsion:
“An alternative home for homeless children and distressed individuals where they can grow spiritually, mentally, socially and physically in order to obtain a secured future and improved ability to succeed with faith in God’s Word as their foundation.”
Mission:
Kalinga Ng Ama aims to provide
essential services to children in need
of special protection ages 3-18 years
old who are in distress and are in need
of care, supervision, counseling and
shelter, on a drop-in or residential basis.
In addition, it hopes to provide a Christian
environment where children who are
destitute, homeless, abandoned or otherwise in need, can grow
to become God-loving, wholesome and productive citizens of their country.
